Liverpool are dealing with a serious injury and the player is likely to be out for a long time.

Liverpool are dealing with a serious injury that will keep a player out for an extended period.

Midfielder Harvey Elliott joined England Under-21s during the international break.

But according to Paul Joyce of The Times, he broke his foot during one of the sessions and had to withdraw from the squad.

The former Fulham player has complained of discomfort and is expected to be out of action until the end of October.

It’s frustrating news for Elliott, who played just seven minutes in three games under new coach Arne Slot.

He came on as a late substitute in the 2-0 win over Brentford at Anfield.

With seven games coming up in quick succession over a three-week period, Elliott will miss the chance to impress Slot as he has had limited playing time thus far.

Elliott was mainly deployed as a super sub under Jurgen Klopp and developed a knack for impressing off the bench.

Slot is said to see him as an attacking midfielder or number 10 as the £10m arrival of Federico Chiesa from Juventus spells the end of Elliott’s winger role.

It is believed he was keen to move away from super sub status and become a regular starter, but has now suffered a setback in his efforts.
