The trend of collectible popcorn cans will increase dramatically during Halloween. The spooky holiday season is the perfect setting for iconic horror franchises to release exclusive merchandise items, as they do every year.
The popcorn can craze has slowly but surely become a more popular collectible among moviegoers, largely thanks to the infamous Dune 2 “fleshlight” design that went viral in early 2024.
Since then, Deadpool & Wolverine and Alien: Romulus have followed, with the new Terrifier 3 collectible even available to pre-order ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
It’s not just new releases that are getting their own unique collector’s tins. The 2022 re-release of The Batman was paired with a fully functioning Bat-Signal popcorn bucket. Now, two iconic horror franchises are getting new collector’s tins to celebrate Halloween 2024.
Cinemark theaters have unveiled their new Chucky and Pennywise popcorn head cans, both iconic horror characters.
Chucky was first introduced to the big screen in the 1988 classic Child’s Play, considered one of the greatest horror films of all time, and has since been featured in eight films. As part of Cinemark’s Halloween celebrations, Bride of Chucky will also be back in theaters this October.
Pennywise the Clown is the main antagonist of beloved horror author Stephen King’s novel IT, which has since been adapted into a film multiple times, first in 1990 and then again in 2017.
Unlike the new Terrifier 3 cans, however, these exclusive Chucky and Pennywise collectibles are only available in theaters and cannot be pre-ordered or purchased online.
“I absolutely need these! Chucky and Pennywise are my two favorite horror icons ever,” wrote one X user, while other moviegoers are “begging” theaters to offer the buckets for sale online or at least list all locations that have them in stock.
