The team behind the Sonic the hedgehog games like to try the Sonic Progress series. The trio of games were released from 2000-2004 and are considered a fan favorite among the many 2D Sonic the hedgehog titles that exist. Now that it has been over 20 years since the Sonic Progress series, gamers hope that it will be re-released at some point, either as a remastered collection of games or possibly in a new version for modern systems.
Sonic Team has been working hard on Sonic X Shadow Generationswhich is scheduled for release in October. Because part of this game is a remaster of the 2011 game Sonic Generations, There is hope from fans of the franchise that Sega and Sonic Team will pay even more attention to titles from the Sonic series’ long history. While team members seem excited about the idea, it seems like a complicated issue.
In an interview with VGC, Sonic Franchise boss Takashi Iizuka stated that Team Sonic would “love” to make the remaster Sonic Progress trilogy. While members of the company may be interested, Team Sonic has not had the opportunity to work on such projects. Iizuka’s response indicated that he was optimistic about the Advance payment series, but he made it clear that there are no plans for a Sonic Progress projects and the future is uncertain.
Sonic Team “Would Really Like” To Remaster Sonic Advance Trilogy
Iizuka noted that Katsuyuki Shigihara, a game designer for the Mario and Sonic series, recently served as director of Sonic Originsthe composition of Sonic 1-3 And Sonic CDwhich sets the precedent for remaster compilations in the franchise. Iizuka is said to be interested in Sonic Progress series a similar type of re-release, but it’s not necessarily tied to one format. Iizuka stated that he was open to “whatever circumstances arise.” Sega could eventually have Sonic Team work on a Sonic Progress trilogy remastering if there is enough interest, but there are several factors that could influence the process.
Takashi Iizuka showed the same attitude towards rumors of a new Chao Garden minigame and a long-awaited Sonic Adventure 3 release. While there are no plans in the works for either type of game, the team would be equally happy to work on them. Iizuka noted that he equates working on a Chao Garden Game to working on a Sonic Adventure title, which states that “it is integrated into the whole Adventure series gameplay, so we can’t just tear it down and make it a thing.” While Team Sonic shows the drive for this kind of work, it may be a while before fans ever see another game Sonic Progress or Sonic Adventure game.
